Deep Dive into Moondrop Jewelry Making (Video)

Hello Moonbeams! This here’s a long one! This video story is a deeper dive into some of my jewelry making processes, which is why it’s extra long. So if you’ve ever wondered what goes into the making, here’s the sneak peek. If short and sweet without me talking are more your jam, I make reels from time to time highlighting shorter pieces of these processes. You can find those at moondrop.collective on my Instagram. It’s important to know that this 3+ minute video is a compilation of what takes days and weeks to accomplish. Thank you for watching and supporting, and I hope to have all of these pieces live and in the shop soon! Check my Instagram posts for the official shop update date when it’s available. Video transcript below.

Love you, thank you!

Hey Moonbeams! This video is going to be longer than some of my previous videos as I’m going to take us on a much deeper dive of some of my behind the scenes jewelry making processes. So if you’re here for a good time, and not a long time, you can skip over to my Instagram which is @moondrop.collective. And check out some of my reels which are fun short snippet of some of these similar processes. Otherwise stay tuned and thank you!

When I’m mixing resin for jewelry I use a combination of these pigments and Art Resin’s resin tints. I follow the same instructions I always do when mixing my Art Resin, and I put the different pigments and tints that I want to use in these smaller containers so that I can have an easier time pouring them into my molds. Here you can see two different times I poured using two different color schemes and the results of these. And right here, this is when they are about to go into the curing process where I cover them up for about 24 hours and let them cure.

Here’s a look at some of the pieces once they’ve cured and I’ve pulled them out of the molds and start to organize them and clean them up. And figure out what exactly they want to be in different forms of jewelry.

I recently got my hands on an incredible stash of junk jewelry. Some of it’s new, some of it’s vintage. And I basically take the time to take these little pieces apart so I can salvage and repurpose the beads and other components that come along with it. Once I’m done deconstructing all of those pieces, I like to wash them to get off any dirt and grime they may have gotten ahold of on their journey. And I clean them and I sort them and let them dry.

And I start to put them together into new components and I mix them with with the resin pieces that I have made, so that I can create brand new pieces of jewelry and give these upcycled bits new life.

When this process currently is all said and done I will have about 46 new pieces to put in my website that will be a mixture of necklaces and earrings.

If you actually made to the end, thank you, you’re awesome and I appreciate your patience. And if you wanna leave some love in the comments. let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see some behind the scenes of. Because I sure as hell enjoy making these. And I hope that whoever watches them enjoys watching them. Thank you again for the continued support of my dreamiest dreams.
